Research & Development Engineer
Job Purpose:
You will manage and work hands-on with multiple development projects.
I Holland's R&D team is responsible for the development of both products and manufacturing processes, and you'll be expected to work on projects from both sides of the business.
You will have a Mechanical Engineering Degree, preferably with some experience in metallurgy and advanced metallurgical coatings. A good understanding of Microsoft Office is essential.
You will be expected to become a subject matter expert (relating to all products passing through R&D) and as such, hold a key position within our Customer Support Group.
You will be a very good communicator at all levels and will be willing to travel abroad on occasion. You will hold a full UK driving licence.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Manage multiple development projects
2. Facilitate the manufacture of parts/components, etc.
3. Liaise with manufacturing to improve current and research new machining processes
4. Manage multiple development partners
5. Identify possible grant funding opportunities
6. Oversee our Component Testing Program (Wear, Corrosion & Toughness)
7. Provide technical support to our Sales Team and Customers
8. Write up all work instructions and quality control procedures relating to new processes/products
9. Draft R&D Tax Narratives relating to own and others' R&D Projects
Essential Qualification:
1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Desirable Experience:
1. Previous experience developing new products and processes from concept through to implementation.
2. 2 years experience as a development engineer within a research and development department.
3. 2 years experience working as a production engineer with direct responsibility for managing projects to establish efficiency gains.
4. Experience in a customer-focused role.
5. Experience preparing and delivering presentations/training programs.

2. Metallurgical Experience
3. Computer-aided design technology literate
4. Tablet tooling equipment and manufacturing process including terminology employed in technical drawings.
