We are looking for an experienced IT Technician to join our team based on the outskirts of Hull. You will work Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30 with an early finish on a Friday. This role is site-based and not remote working.
Job Purpose
To be the first point of call for the business unit in the timely and satisfactory resolution of IT issues. Work with the ALTD central IT team on ongoing IT projects and compliance activities. Assist business users with applications and support any improvement activities in processes/adoption.
Responsibilities
1. Provide first line support for all IT issues looking to troubleshoot and resolve in person or escalating for second line support as necessary.
2. Support Infrastructure and Security lead in resolution of security vulnerabilities e.g. by installing patches or working with end users in resolution.
3. Repairing or replacing damaged hardware to maintain system integrity.
4. Liaise with software vendors to ensure applications are used effectively. Perform tests and evaluations of software as necessary to ensure software meets user requirements.
5. Maintain and create documentation and work instructions.
6. Configure software to meet end user requirements.
7. Assist in IT projects and act as first point of call for all end users for any related issues.
Experience Needed
1. Experience working within a user-facing IT role.
2. Experience working within an IT role within a manufacturing business.
3. Experience troubleshooting and resolving IT issues.
4. Experience working within a ticketed help desk system.
5. Experience working within a Cyber Essentials Plus Organisation.
Technical Knowledge
1. Experience of O365.
2. Strong Excel skills.
3. Experience with Factory Master or equivalent ERP system highly desirable.
4. Experience with QlikSense, Crystal reports or alternative BI solutions highly desirable.
5. Experience of workflow and document management systems e.g. Therefore, SharePoint, Power Automate desirable.
6. Experience of patch management technology e.g. Desktop central.
7. Experience of security practices and concepts e.g. Cyber Essentials, Encryption, MFA etc.
Skills & Competencies
1. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
2. Willingness to learn new systems and processes.
3. Strong problem-solving abilities.
4. Able to proactively plan implementation of new technologies and execute.
5. Able to work closely with technology vendors specifying requirements and procuring, when necessary, solutions to business problems.
