Provide strong clinical leadership skills, supporting, energising, inspiring and empowering others in pursuit of a shared vision to ensure the effective management of the Intensive Care Unit. To be responsible for the teaching, supervision, assessment of students and junior staff. To attend and participate in team and unit meetings, to exercise leadership, coordinate and manage the nursing team. To demonstrate effective management of staffing levels in accordance with the needs of the service. To provide an effective specialised resource (practical and theoretical) within the Intensive Care Unit. To be responsible for developing clinical skills and knowledge through on going education and life-long learning, ensuring that nursing practice is up-to-date and evidence based with the scope of practice.
