B+K are recruiting for an experienced Bid Writer to join our Central region, based in Belper, Derby.
Role Purpose:
Function as Lead Author to produce professionally written, consistent proposal content that clearly articulates B+K's value proposition.
As Bid Writer you will:
1. Develop value propositions tailored to clients' unique requirements.
2. Undertake client/market research and competitor analysis.
3. Dissect questions and produce answer plans to maximise relevant information extracted from subject matter experts.
4. Create response structures and compile narrative for quality responses, aligned to the clients' evaluation criteria and objectives.
5. Provide one B+K tone of voice across quality submissions.
6. Conduct interviews with subject matter experts, interrogating the design and construction requirements, converting detail into persuasive responses.
7. Manage content and structure for evidence and case studies.
8. Develop case studies and evidence with project teams and subject matter experts.
9. Proactively develop and manage a network of subject matter experts.
10. Coordinate and manage response review sessions.
11. Ability to coach operational teams and subject matter experts in writing best practices.
12. Support the development of marketing plans to support new markets/proposals.
13. Monitor and record our PQQ/tender success rates, recording trends and areas for improvement from customer feedback.
14. Ensure all leads, PQQ, and tender opportunities are recorded (with anticipated timetable) for regional review and updated on the company business development database.
15. Research customers and consultants for relevant opportunities to enable us to prepare bid-winning documents.
16. Interview the Contracts Manager/Project Manager and produce or update our project reference sheet (PRS) for the scheme.
17. Question staff to enable an updating of their CV or sometimes tweaking their current CV to reflect an opportunity that we may be pursuing.
What we are looking for:
1. Proven skills in producing and editing proposal content across multiple landscapes for public and private sector clients.
2. Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate professionally with colleagues at all levels of the business.
3. Good quality research skills and effective questioning techniques.
4. Exceptional proofreading and editing skills.
5. Ability to use a range of tools, methods, and search engines to analyse and assimilate data, such as competitor analysis or client research.
6. Support the development of proposal libraries/knowledge hub across the region and centrally.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with work-winning, operational teams and supply chain.
8. Ability to manage and respond to multiple bids/questions at any one time.
9. Experience of coordinating and updating a knowledge base system is beneficial.
10. Experience from within the construction industry beneficial but not essential.
Qualifications:
1. Certified to APMP Foundation or Practitioner Level desirable.
2. Advanced MS Word skills and proficient in MS Office, including working with templates.
