Salary: A competitive salary from £32,400 - £40,500 depending on the experience you can bring

We’re looking for a Finance Operations Analyst to join our Finance Operations team based in our Edinburgh office on a permanent basis. You will play a crucial role within the team responsible for the integrity of all financial transactions within Aegon UK.
The Team is responsible for the integrity & controls operating over the financial transactions within Aegon UK’s ledgers, ensuring they are robust, effective, and accurate.
In this role, you will support the daily activities of the Finance Operations department to ensure quality service delivery. This includes undertaking daily financial tasks relating to General and Purchase Ledgers and preparation of accounts to trial balance level. You will represent Finance Operations in initiatives to ensure comprehensive risk, control, and accounting measures. The role also involves driving process improvements and collaborating with stakeholders to manage financial risks and resolve issues.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Preparing and reviewing journals, accruals & prepayments, day-to-day bank & balance sheet reconciliations, and preparation of accounts to trial balance level.
* Reviewing trial balances and performing analytical reviews across all entities on balances, movements, trends for completeness before inclusion in financial reporting.
* Representing Finance Operations on local & corporate initiatives to ensure that all risks, controls & accounting are captured, through design & reconciliation.
* Leading the review of end-to-end processing to continually improve the process for efficiency, mitigate risks, and enhance controls.
* Supporting the execution of various audits and year-end activities from Finance Operations, serving as the main point of contact for auditors, coordinating responses, and addressing technical questions.
* Driving continuous improvement within the team to enhance process efficiency and maintain a robust control environment by leading the creation of plans and identifying and implementing effective solutions.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
* Experience of Financial Services general ledger and technical accounting.
* The ability to articulate technical aspects of the accounting framework.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking, and an eye for detail and passion for accuracy.
* Experience of using continuous improvement tools through to implementation.
* Experience of banking processes and systems.
* Have or studying towards ACCA, AAT or equivalent.
