To work under the guidance of the Pain Management Team in the provision of an efficient and effective pain service throughout the Trust. The Pain Management Nurse will support and empower all healthcare workers and patients by providing specialist knowledge and advice on acute pain management issues. This will involve the assessment and treatment of patients with acute pain.
The interview date for this role will be the 13th December 2024.
Main duties of the job
1. To support the lead nurse and clinical lead with planning and individual care of patients with pain management advice to in-patients.
2. To provide education and support to patients and families experiencing pain issues.
3. Ensure patient safety recognizing procedural complications and manage them effectively.
4. Have knowledge and understanding of clinical trials and research in accordance to pain assessment and treatments. Support the lead nurse with any ongoing trials within the trust relating to pain management and treatments.
5. Under supervision offer advice, education and training, consultancy and support to all colleagues within the hospital regarding pain management.
6. Provide face-to-face support to patients, families, and carers as well as liaison over the telephone.
7. Liaise with various internal and external individuals associated with pain management protocols/guidelines.
8. With support from a clinical lead assess care needs, implementation, and evaluation of programs of care and setting of standards.
9. Contribute to the professional level of service, education, and training required for the pain team.
10. Expected to manage your own patient caseload with support from your lead nurse and clinical medical lead.
11. Attend external relevant conferences and training courses to enhance professional development and development of the service, and feedback to the clinical lead.
