An outstanding primary school based in Wembley, Brent, is seeking a teaching assistant to support students with autistic spectrum disorders and speech and language difficulties, with an immediate start.
Job Description
The successful SEN teaching assistant will be required to provide 1:1 classroom support. As a special needs teaching assistant, you will also help to develop students' social communication, interaction, and interpretation skills, while playing an active role in developing their confidence, self-esteem, and independence.
The ideal candidate will need to be committed to providing support to learners with a range of needs, be flexible in their approach, and be able to work as part of a team.
Previous experience with SEND is a requirement. Understanding and experience of using Makaton, PECs, and sensory approaches are advantageous but not essential.
This is a full-time, long-term role to start immediately and will continue until the end of the academic year (July 2025).
Minimum Requirements
1. Previous SEND experience is essential - specifically with Autism.
2. Makaton and PECS experience - highly desirable but not essential.
3. Dedicated and passionate about education.
4. References confirming suitability for the role.
5. Commitment to safeguarding.
6. Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service.
7. Eligibility to work in the UK.
