Job overview

Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a hospital pharmacy setting, and study for a funded Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy?
Does the prospect of being supported to develop and progress from Band 6 to Band 7 appeal to you?
If your answer to these questions is yes, then we have just the role for you!
Scarborough Hospital is looking for enthusiastic and patient-focused pharmacists/trainee pharmacists to join our friendly Pharmacy Team by the sea. The post is ideal for someone wanting to develop their clinical knowledge and skills.
Main duties of the job
The Pharmacy team at Scarborough prides itself on being supportive and friendly, and staff development is encouraged.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain clinical experience in many different specialties such as elderly care, respiratory, diabetes, cardiology, stroke, gastroenterology, acute medical admissions, and surgery. You will rotate through the different areas of the hospital working as part of a small team with medicines management technicians and assistants and supported by specialist pharmacists in each area.
We provide an individually tailored induction plan and mentor, and welcome all applicants whether you have hospital pharmacy experience or not. We gradually introduce key responsibilities as experience is gained, and you'll be supported to develop your clinical knowledge and skills. After being in post for at least 12 months, and being able to demonstrate you have met the key responsibilities, you will be eligible for progression into a Band 7 role.
We actively encourage your development in the form of a postgraduate clinical diploma at Bradford University. We will provide you with a senior tutor and allocated study time.
Whilst the majority of your time will be ward-based, you will also contribute to the provision of professional cover for our dispensary and participate in weekend and on-call rotas.
Applications are invited from GPhC Registered Pharmacists, or trainee pharmacists who are due to become registrants with the GPhC in August 2025.
