This includes underground cables, overhead lines, GIS & AIS substations, HVDC convertor stations and transmission cable tunnels, as well as windfarms, railway and nuclear connections. As the demand to deliver exceptional engineering design from our clients continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for a HVDC Engineer / Project Manager., The HVDC Engineer / Project Manager will be reporting to the Director - HV and will be responsible for delivery of HVDC projects, pursue of HVDC tenders, developing BakerHicks' HVDC capabilities, ensuring the quality and consistency of the team's output in the production and control of drawings and technical documents and business development.
You will have demonstrable experience in the production of designs, calculations, reports & drawings associated with new or modification of HVDC projects. This will cover overseeing the production of converter station primary layouts, Direct Current Switching Station (DCSS) layouts, HVDC equipment specifications, equipment rating calculations, HVDC converter station and cable routing siting studies, HVDC protection requirements, P&C wiring diagrams, insulation coordination and system modelling. What you will need
* Minimum BEng/Bsc in Electrical Engineering, ideally MEng/MSc in Electrical Engineering.
* Be or working toward CEng status, however not essential.
* Previous experience in HVDC projects either in the UK or Overseas.
* Have good knowledge of National Grid or SSEN technical specifications?
