This post is suitable for Paediatric Doctors with level 2/3 neonatal experience and eligibility to work in the UK. MRCPCH is highly desirable. The successful candidate will participate fully in the 7 person neonatal ST4-8 rota which is EWTD 2009 compliant (Band 1A). Opportunities for doing a part-time educational fellow post are also available for suitable candidates.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of patients under the supervision of a consultant neonatologist. Clinical responsibilities will include:
1. Neonatal Unit - ward rounds, discharge planning, acute admissions and neonatal work.
2. Responsibility for either neonatal unit, or Post-natal ward and labour ward working with the other middle grade doctors.
3. Regular attendance and active participation in neonatal outpatient clinics.
4. Participation in overall supervision and education of junior doctors and medical students.
5. Taking an active part in the department's education programme.
6. Taking an active part in audit. An audit project is expected in this post.
7. Assistance in conjunction with consultants and specialist registrars with the teaching of undergraduate medical students.
