The Role:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our Finance team, responsible for accurate processing of supplier invoices and maintaining purchase ledger records.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accurately input and process supplier invoices, ensuring all relevant documentation such as purchase orders and delivery notes are attached before payment.
2. Resolve invoice queries by communicating with suppliers and liaising with the Payables Manager.
3. Perform reconciliations of supplier statements.
4. Maintain accurate records of all transactions and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
5. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing reports and supporting documentation for audits.
6. Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external contacts, including senior members of the organization.
7. The ideal candidate will be skilled in systems and software and play a key role in upgrading and maintaining our accountancy software as we move to the cloud.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role, preferably within the construction industry.
2. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with suppliers and colleagues.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with Dynamics Nav and Continia is essential with knowledge of the cloud platform particularly beneficial.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
6. Minimum GCSE or equivalent qualification in English and Mathematics.
