Financial Controller
Location: Cambridge, CB4
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Flexible start and Finish times
Hourly Rate / Salary: up to £65,000

An exciting opportunity to join a Manufacturing company based in Cambridge, an SME with a turnover of circa. £7million. This is a great time to join the business to lead a team of 3 including a management accountant and two accounts assistants. An office-based role that does offer totally flexible start and finish times alongside the opportunity to work from home on occasion. You will be trusted to complete your work, and your opinions will be valued in this role. Working as part of the Senior Management team you will report directly to the Managing Director. CIMA qualification is preferred for this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Actively contribute to the creation and update of the company's strategy.
2. Identify gaps between the strategy and the organisational plans.
3. Provide overall business and financial control and support to the Business.
4. Ensure clear and accurate financial performance reporting, weekly and monthly.
5. Ensure that the Senior Team fully understand the financial performance of the business.
6. Ensure corrective action plans in place to drive and deliver the business performance.
7. Challenge existing practices to minimise risk and maximise delivery.
8. Champion the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
9. Ensuring that comprehensive and realistic budgets and forecasts are presented.
10. Act as the IS champion, including championing ERP improvements.
11. Ensure that commercial proposals are robustly appraised.
12. Ensure that they support the delivery of the business plan.
13. Responsible for the management of the working capital of the business.
14. Ensure that capital and non-capital investments are robustly appraised.
15. Monitor and manage inventory levels and valuations.
16. Lead the Finance function including recruitment, appraisals and direct reports.
17. Prepare and execute monthly payroll, ensuring compliance with HMRC RTI reporting.
18. Lead the annual financial statement audit and statutory accounts preparation process.
19. Manage the preparation of Corporation tax and R&D tax credit returns.
What we are looking for:
1. Manufacturing industry experience.
2. Working in a business of similar revenue size approx. £7 - £10Million.
3. CIMA Qualification.
4. Ability to lead a team and oversee a full financial function.
