Maintenance / Caretaker Job Description:
Responsible to: Homes Manager
Hours: 35hrs per week
Location: Welshwood Manor Care Home
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled caretaker to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in customer service and demonstrate excellent leadership abilities. This role requires a blend of general building knowledge, as well as the capability to supervise and maintain equipment effectively. The caretaker will play a crucial role in ensuring that facilities are well-maintained and operational.
Job Description:
Full-time permanent position. We are seeking a friendly, conscientious, and reliable caretaker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the general basic maintenance on the inside and outside of the building and upkeep of the garden.
Duties will include:
1. Key holding duties, to lock and unlock as required.
2. Security of site which includes being a named emergency contact & holding emergency phone.
3. Preparation of rooms for how arounds and events, including moving of tables & chairs, setting up/putting down and cleaning up of all equipment.
4. Undertake regular Health and Safety checks of the premises.
5. Identify and report faults or breakages to the centre manager.
6. Carry out minor repairs and maintenance provided it is within the Association Health and Safety Guidelines and does not require specialist qualification.
7. Any other duties that may be required for the role.
Responsibilities:
* Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of maintenance staff to ensure efficient operations.
* Maintain and repair various systems, including electrical and mechanical components, ensuring they meet safety standards.
* Perform regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Provide exceptional customer service by addressing concerns and requests from facility users promptly.
* Lead training sessions for new staff on maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
* Assist in welding tasks as required for repairs or modifications to equipment.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a caretaker or maintenance role, demonstrating strong supervisory skills.
* Solid understanding of electrical systems and general building knowledge.
* Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
* Willingness to perform physical tasks associated with maintenance duties, including lifting heavy objects when necessary.
Skills:
* Good understanding of caretaker duties.
* Good communication skills to liaise with hall hires and external contractors.
* A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and handle emergency situations.
* Basic knowledge of Health and Safety.
* COSH knowledge but not essential; training will be given.
* First Aid Certificate but not essential.
* A fully DBS check will be required.
Experience:
* Maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
* Driving Licence (preferred)
