About the role: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Research Technician to join our dynamic Plant Sciences team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in plant sciences, working with state-of-the-art equipment in our modern laboratory facilities. As a Research Technician, you will play a crucial role in executing experiments, analysing data, and supporting the development of novel plant-based technologies and products. You will learn and employ heuristics related to tissue culture, breeding, meristem propagation, and other aspects of traditional horticulture. Proximal to the role is understanding and operation of environmental, irrigation, and lighting systems and conducting cultivation activities under GACP. The sort of things you will be doing: You will be supporting with our research projects by assisting with the day-to-day operations across our laboratory facilities, undertaking experiments, maintaining meticulous research notes, and entry of the resulting data to meet project milestones. Under supervision, executing laboratory experiments in plant sciences, including working with controlled environmental conditions and assessing plant responses to various parameters such as light and temperature Performing and optimising tissue culture and micropropagation methodologies for plant research purposes Maintaining detailed and organised records of project data, inventory, and experimental procedures using laboratory notebooks, QMS, and SharePoint electronic record-keeping Continuous monitoring and maintenance of plants to ensure optimal growth throughout their life cycle Performing functions throughout the cultivation life cycle: from propagation, vegetative and reproductive phases of growth, through to the drying and trimming of flowers Developing a keen eye for pattern recognition to detect symptoms pertaining to a myriad of insect, fungal, and bacterial pests and pathogens Adhering strictly to guidelines and procedures pursuant to all SOPs and in accordance with GACP, and eventually, EU-GMP standards Calibrating, operating, cleaning, and maintaining equipment and tools used in the laboratory and plant cultivation areas Carrying out general horticultural and controlled environment duties - including potting, pruning, watering, transfer of plants and substrates, and related tasks Generating and presenting experimental reports, including discussion and critical analysis of relevant scientific literature Participating in ongoing training and development programs to enhance expertise and stay current with emerging techniques in plant sciences Contributing to the preparation of research findings for client-facing reports and services Assisting in the development and implementation of new methodologies and technologies in plant research This role will be a great fit if: You have experience in a fast-paced, research role and can demonstrate a passion to drive science and technology development. You’ll likely have either a Bachelor's degree in Plant Sciences, Horticulture, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field, or have gained the relevant experience You have experience in a laboratory or controlled environment setting, preferably in plant sciences or a related field You're proficient in maintaining detailed records and using laboratory software You have a keen eye for plant health and can identify potential issues in plant growth You're comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic research environment You have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to following strict protocols and procedures You're passionate about plant sciences and eager to contribute to cutting-edge research You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills You're a team player with good communication skills, able to work effectively in a collaborative environment You're adaptable and willing to learn new techniques and methodologies You have experience with or knowledge of GACP and GMP standards (preferred but not required) You're committed to maintaining a safe and clean working environment What are we looking for?
