Brief Description
Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain. This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
About the role (External)
In this role, you'll develop and publish comprehensive isolation plans and documentation that align with stakeholder requirements. You'll ensure all isolation strategies and related materials adhere to Electrified Lines Working Instructions and relevant Network Rail standards. In addition, you'll support the integration and development of both short-term and long-term isolation strategies throughout the planning process, driving efficiency and compliance.
Key accountabilities:
1. Create and review isolation plans and identify work/possession proposals and opportunities in accordance with Electrified Lines Working Instructions and relevant planning standards & industry time scales.
2. Maintain records specific to the isolation planning process.
3. Identify any switching requirements and liaise with the isolation provider(s) to determine responsibility of switching for isolation(s) with multiple Isolation Providers.
4. Attendance at possession and isolation planning meetings including producing, checking, validating publications and updates as necessary.
5. Engage with Route wide stakeholders and customers and support with the coordination of their isolation requirements.
6. Assist and support with the identification and implementation of quality and efficiency improvements.
7. Maintain isolation planning competencies and complete assessment arrangements as required.
8. Review any post isolation delivery issues and understand any learnings in the isolation planning process.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following criteria:
Essential
1. Able to work under pressure.
2. Able to evaluate complex factors and make decisions to maximise benefit.
3. Able to prioritise and organise workload effectively to ensure that deadlines are met.
4. Displays a good attention to detail.
5. Displays good communication skills and a customer focused approach.
6. Competent level of IT skills including use of Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel and ability to work in other software packages.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the Electrified Lines Working Instructions and isolation planning standards.
2. Knowledge of the isolation planning process.
3. Knowledge of electrical feeding arrangements.
4. Knowledge of Group Standards, Weekly Operation Notices, Electrical Diagrams & Instructions, and other relevant documentation.
5. Knowledge of relevant railway geography.
6. Knowledge of relevant train services and network capacity.
7. Able to operate relevant planning systems.
8. Knowledge of the process of taking and management of isolations.
