Three exciting new leadership opportunities have arisen for inspirational and experienced consultants who want to help shape the education and training of current and future doctors in one of the largest trusts in the country. The Medical Education Department is offering three Care Group Directors of Medical Education roles which will attract 4 PAs that will form part of a 10PA consultant role (specialty - see below).
Post holders will support the Director of Medical Education and will each hold a specific portfolio of work aligned to the Trust's Care Groups and overseeing and coordinating work around the education and training of medical students and junior doctors at all levels. You will work collaboratively at Care Group Associate Medical Director and managing director level. Applications are particularly welcomed from consultants working in medical specialties, emergency medicine, acute medicine, HCOOP however, applications from consultants working in any specialty will be considered., You will be expected to attend regular care group and medical education business meetings, ensuring that education and training needs and issues are fully integrated into clinical and operational services. You will be an advocate and ensure the voice of Medical Education is heard as part of business and operational decisions being made within your area. Collaborative working, within the Trust, and with external partners, will therefore be essential in delivering key outcomes against the NHSE Education Contract and the Medical Education Strategy and vision which seeks to make East Kent the Trust of choice for medical students and doctors.
You will be required to ensure that all students and doctors have the appropriate supervision, that their curriculum requirements are met, that any and all additional support (including IMG doctors) requirements are delivered. You will need to ensure that faculty are recruited, inducted, supported and developed appropriately in order to be able to fulfil their roles. You will lead a team to ensure processes for learner support (additional support, SRTT, LTFT, Flexible Portfolio Training and more) are implemented effectively in collaboration with other stakeholders including departments, rota coordinators, OH for example.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate significant educational management and leadership skills and experience including the management of education programmes and resources.
