We are excited to partner with a well-established SM Construction company in Wakefield to assist in their search for a Financial Controller. This key role will be part of the senior leadership team, overseeing the daily operations and guiding the development of a small finance team. The ideal candidate will be a strong management accountant with the ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders and provide in-depth analysis to support critical business decisions. Candidates with Construction, Engineering, or Manufacturing experience would be of particular interest.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic financial guidance.
2. Oversee the daily management of the finance team.
3. Monthly management accounts production.
4. Prepare financial statements, including P&L, balance sheets, etc.
5. Lead budgeting and forecasting efforts.
6. Conduct variance analysis.
7. Manage cash flow.
8. Ensure governance requirements and deadlines are met for CIS, VAT, Corporation tax.
9. Enhance financial controls and improve processes.
10. Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
1. ACCA, CIMA, ACA qualified or equivalent.
2. Construction, Engineering, or Manufacturing experience essential.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a small finance team.
4. Knowledge of CIS.
5. Proficiency with ERP systems.
