A specialist Piling and Ground Engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to work on multi-discipline piling and ground engineering projects across the South.
Based out of their southern office in Surrey, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing an estimating service, assisting in the procurement of contracts in accordance with the company estimating procedures. The role involves both Site Investigation and GES business streams.
Duties Consist of:
1. To undertake the initial assessment of enquiries, completion of CR10's.
2. To prepare tenders using company risk assessments, progress calculators, and calculation sheets that are commercially competitive and qualified where necessary.
3. To deliver timely submissions meeting agreed deadlines.
4. To complete tender stage programmes.
5. To obtain accurate and up-to-date materials and sub-contractor quotations.
6. To liaise with the Commercial, Operations, Proposals, and Technical departments to maximize beneficial opportunities and reduce risk to SEGL.
7. To liaise with potential Clients & Engineers providing information and solutions.
8. To maintain the Enquiry Database with up-to-date information e.g., tender follow-up records & updating enquiry status.
9. To assist other estimators and regional office managers with completion of bids as required.
10. To prepare hand-over packages.
The ideal Candidate must have:
1. Good understanding of the geotechnical and environmental industries.
2. 5+ years of UK Geo-environmental experience.
3. Degree qualified and registration with appropriate professional body.
4. Understanding of key standard forms of contract (ICE, ICC, NEC), standard specifications, and methods of measurement.
5. Knowledge of GIS plant capabilities.
6. Knowledge of company procedures.
7. Excellent computer skills, particularly in Excel, Project, and company Lotus Databases.
8. Ability and willingness to negotiate with Clients both by telephone and at meetings in order to secure work.
