Role Overview
This is a challenging position where you will be responsible for leading the collation strategy for mass properties data to deliver weight and centroid control on submarine programmes. The successful candidate will have experience of weight management, technical leadership skills, and ability to work independently.
You will define and manage mass budgets for submarine programmes, break it down to system level, and create and maintain a comprehensive database of parts mass properties. Additionally, you will support submarine sea trials and promote a culture of weight control.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement mass properties strategies to ensure weight and centroid control
* Aggregate and present weight and centroid reports to senior management
* Define and manage mass budgets for submarine programmes
* Create and maintain a comprehensive database of parts mass properties
* Support submarine sea trials
* Promote a culture of weight control and work with system engineering to integrate weight as a fundamental design constraint
* Conduct research and development activities to promote BAE Systems interests at conferences
* Perform conceptual parametric estimations for mass distributions and moments of inertia
Your Skills and Experience
Essential qualifications include a degree in an engineering or mathematics subject, experience of weight management, and ability to work independently and provide technical leadership.
Desirable qualifications include Chartered Engineer status, experience of weight control on large programmes, and experience working with complex systems.
