Life Skills Tutor SEMH Specialist justteachers are supporting a 11/16 Alternative Provision with two sites in Peterborough in their recruitment for a Life Skills Tutor. These schools have a strong foundation in sport and are committed to delivering education, training, and life-changing experiences for their students.
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Life Skills Tutor to work with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role involves helping students develop essential life skills, social confidence, and workplace readiness to support their transition into adulthood.
Key Responsibilities: Deliver engaging and practical life skills sessions, covering topics such as independent living, communication, financial literacy, and workplace readiness.
Support students with SEMH and behavioural needs, fostering their personal growth and emotional resilience.
Create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment tailored to individual student needs.
Run social life and workplace skills workshops, helping students develop confidence in real-world situations.
Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience In: Supporting young people with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges.
Delivering life skills programmes in an educational or community-based setting.
Working in alternative provisions, special schools, or similar environments .
Engaging with vulnerable young people to improve their independence and employability skills .
Supporting students with transition planning for further education, training, or employment.
Essential Requirements: Experience working with children or young people in a school or similar setting.
Knowledge or experience of Special Educational Needs (SEND), particularly SEMH.
Understanding of positive behaviour strategies and the ability to support students with challenging behaviours.
A clear enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one).
The legal right to work in the UK .
