Workshop Fitter
Overview:
1. A leading engineering company is seeking a skilled Workshop Fitter.
2. Responsible for stripping, assessing, and rebuilding pumps.
3. Work closely with internal teams to maintain efficiency and quality.
Job Purpose:
1. Perform accurate stripping and assessment of pumps.
2. Liaise with administrative staff and the Workshop Supervisor.
3. Complete root cause analyses (RCAs) and maintain accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assess pump repairs, determine necessary spare parts, and rebuild pumps.
2. Communicate effectively with internal teams and colleagues.
3. Participate in an on-call rota (typically 1 in 3 to 1 in 4 weeks, depending on staffing).
4. Attend customer sites and branches to support workshops when needed.
5. Ensure assessments are completed accurately and on time.
6. Work closely with the Workshop Supervisor to ensure precise pump assessments.
7. Promote best practices in Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance, Team Behaviour & Collaboration, Housekeeping & Workshop Cleanliness, and Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
1. Valid Driving License.
2. Mechanical Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
3. Experience in pump repair and general engineering practices.
4. Ability to use engineering measuring equipment.
5. Health & Safety training.
Desirable Qualifications & Skills:
1. BTEC National Certificate/Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
2. Electrical Training & Basic Electrical Experience.
3. Safety Passport Certification.
4. Pump OEM Training.
5. Experience in Laser Alignment.
Experience & Competencies:
1. Hands-on experience in bench fitting and on-site diagnostics.
2. Ability to write root cause failure reports.
3. Experience in providing written quotations to clients.
4. Strong communication skills for liaising with site engineers and managers.
5. Customer-focused approach with a drive to provide excellent service.
6. Ability to embrace and manage change in a dynamic work environment.
7. Team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to adapt.
