Driver/Carer – Beechwood College

Iris Care Group has an exciting new opportunity for a Driver/Carer to join our team at Beechwood College, Sully.
This role will support our service users to attend activities including sensory drives, taking, and picking up from appointments, home visits, collection of medications and shopping. When working as a driver you will act as a secondary carer for our service users, as such in addition to a clean licence you will ideally have experience of working in a similar role in the care sector and have compassion for others.
The role is 37.5 hours per week worked flexibly across 7 days. However, the predominant shift pattern will be working 0800 to 1600hrs Mon to Fri.

About your role
As a Support Worker, you will be supporting individuals with complex needs such as Autism, Learning Disabilities, challenging behaviours, physical disabilities, and Mental Health conditions.
Role Responsibilities
To assist the Students to access appointments and community facilities driving either the Company Car or Company Mini Bus.
To ensure that the Students are safe and secure at all times, whilst travelling in the transport
Manage Health & Safety issues including arranging service maintenance of the vehicles
Co-ordinate and manage vehicle checks, daily and weekly, ensuring vehicles are cleaned and well maintained.
To liaise with colleagues regarding Student needs
Pick up prescriptions, take to the pharmacy and pick up medication, in line with policy and procedure.
To organise working day / time management in line with Service users needs.
Role Requirements
Driving License D1
All staff who work in a service that is registered with Care Inspectorate for Wales (CIW) will be required to register with Social Care Wales from 1st October 2022. You must also be prepared to work towards/undertake the necessary qualifications to meet the requirements to register.
