Passionate about sustainable growing?
Ready to work with a business that invests in you? Somewhere you can build your career?
This unique opportunity will see you working for a global integrated pest management company, with a smaller business feel in the UK. You get the best of both worlds here. A chance to develop your career with a well-known horticulture name, without being 'just a number.'
What's the job?
You'll be reporting to the Commercial Manager, who has specialised in IPM for over 15 years, and part of a small UK-based team, who are there to support you too.
The day-to-day will see you out on the road, working with commercial growers, specialising in protected crops.
You'll be working with growers from Cambridgeshire down to Chichester and Kent, so you won't mind being on the road.
One day, you might be visiting a protected salad grower, the next day you could spend time at a soft fruit grower, followed by a day with an ornamental grower.
You'll be spending time with the teams on the ground, building relationships, crop walking and understanding their processes. You'll use the technical knowledge you've developed to advise on challenges and recommend the best IPM strategies.
The communication doesn't stop there. You'll be on the end of the phone for any queries they might have, visiting them throughout the year to ensure they've got everything they need to have a successful growing season.
There is a sales element to this role, but they expect sales to come as a result of the great relationships you have and the technical advice you give, not through pushing products.
Internally, you'll be speaking with the European team regularly, updating them on orders, and ensuring you're fully up to date with new products, technology, and industry news.
There's some admin involved, providing reports to customers after technical visits, updating product availability and inputting orders.
You'll also get the opportunity to go to trade shows, conferences and even travel abroad!
You're in charge of your own diary, planning to spend about 50% of the week out and about, with the rest from you.
About you
You'll be coming from a hands-on commercial growing background. You might be in a similar role but ready for a new challenge. You might have spent your time working in entomology. Either way, this could be the role for you.
They want to support you succeed. Whether you're able to hit the ground running, or you need training and support, they'll ensure you have the right onboarding process.
This role will see you travelling, so you'll have a valid UK driving licence and be happy to stay away from home a few nights a week.
