About the Role As Deputy SENCO, you will work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and support staff to ensure effective support for students with SEN. You will assist in developing and reviewing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), monitoring progress, and embedding inclusive practices throughout the school. This position offers opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative and supportive setting. Key Responsibilities Assist the SENCO in overseeing the school’s SEN provision, ensuring all students with additional needs receive appropriate support. Contribute to the design, implementation, and review of IEPs for students with SEN. Monitor and assess the progress of SEN students, ensuring timely interventions and effective strategies are in place. Support class teachers in delivering inclusive teaching practices. Provide guidance, training, and resources to staff on best practices for supporting students with SEN. Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to foster a holistic approach to student support. Supervise and support the work of teaching assistants and other support staff. What We’re Looking For We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional who: Is a qualified teacher with experience in SEN and ideally holds or is working towards the National Award for SEN Coordination. Has a strong commitment to inclusive education and is passionate about supporting diverse learning needs. Possesses excellent communication and teamwork skills, capable of building positive relationships with staff, families, and external professionals. Is proactive, well-organized, and adept at managing multiple priorities in a busy school environment. Has experience working with primary-aged children and understands the challenges they face.
