Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new clinical service manager post within the psychosexual service. This post allows the post holder to hone and develop their management skills while supporting the research and clinical work within the team.
Main duties of the job
The role would suit a motivated and committed Psychologist/psychotherapist/Family therapist or Art Therapist with skills and experience working with individuals and
couples presenting with complex sexual problems.
The successful candidate would have a proven record of delivering psychological therapy and be competent in at least one therapeutic modality e.g.
CBT and knowledge of psychosexual therapy, sexual dysfunction and issues around gender identity is required. To develop, co-ordinate and ensure the systematic provision of highly specialist psychological interventions for clients of the Psychosexual Service and will provide clinical leadership to more junior psychological practitioners and other professionals, as appropriate while managing the teams resources.

Psychosexual Service is an outpatient clinical service, part of the National Service Division, for adults aged 18 and over with no upper age limit. It
specialises in treating people with complex and persistent sexual problems. The service offers assessment and treatment for individuals and
couples who are experiencing difficulties with their sexual functioning, where the primary cause is psychological, or where the psychosexual
problem has developed as a result of physical pathology.
We have expertise in treating people with a range of sexual dysfunctions and gender-related difficulties.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
KR 1 Clinical and Client Care
• To develop, co-ordinate and ensure the systematic provision of highly specialist psychological interventions for clients of the Psychosexual Clinic
• To provide highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for clients of the clinic according to discipline including evidence based treatments for psychosexual dysfunction and sexual trauma.
KR 2 Responsibilities for team or service clinical functioning
• To co-ordinate (and chair) meetings for the Psychosexual Clinic, to ensure effective functioning of the team
• To take a lead in ensuring a psychologically and psychotherapeutically informed framework for the Psychosexual Clinic(part of a service).
KR 3 Policy and service development
• To implement policies and procedures in own area of work.
• To identify any aspects of the psychosexual service which could be improved and propose changes to practices or procedures that affect psychosexual service and may also affect other services.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Entry-level qualification in applied psychological therapy/mental health/social welfare profession or equivalent and demonstrable practice in this field (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level/supervised practice/additional training) that has been accepted for the purposes of professional registration.
* Completed training course in clinical supervision and/or accredited to supervised qualified psychological practitioners in relevant discipline
* Registered with professional body as appropriate to discipline HCPC/UKCP/BABCP
Experience
Essential criteria
* Evidence of having worked as a clinical specialist under supervision in the area of psychosexual dysfunction
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature in psychosexual dysfunction
* Experience of proposing and implementing service development projects within own service
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Advanced knowledge of the theory of psychological therapy and it's therapeutic application in the area of psychosexual dysfunction.
* To deliver psychological/psychotherapeutic therapy across cultural and other differences
* Knowledge of racial and other diversity issues and factors affecting access to mental health care
* Knowledge of a range of a range of therapeutic ideas/approaches systemic models in assessment and treatment relevant to discipline
Skills
Essential criteria
* Advanced skills in working with a number of clients and systems together, managing the highly complex emotional relationships within and between the component parts of the systems in ways, which maximise the potential for therapeutic outcomes
* Advanced skills in professional supervision; including skills for offering live supervision of multi-disciplinary colleagues.
* Skills in providing teaching and training to other professional groups.
