Total Care Recruitment urgently requires Band 5 Children's Residential Support Workers for a temporary, full-time block booking at an Adult residential home in the Downpatrick area. Waking nights and sleep-in duties are required. An immediate start is available. Job Purpose The Support Worker's role is to work as a team member in running the home and undertake duties based on the needs of the young people and their care plan. The role requires partnership working with core staff, service users and their families. Main Responsibilities Be familiar with and adhere to Trust policies and procedures in carrying out all duties. Contribute to assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and reviewing duties in relation to the development of programmes of care for service users and their families which will include, care, protection and treatment when necessary. Undertakes the personal care the service users which involves ensuring that their social, emotional, health, educational, spiritual, and physical needs are met as fully as possible. Promote and develop social and life skills in partnership with service users. Assists with the care and supervision of the total group of service users who are resident in the Home. Work in partnership with the keyworkers to ensure care plans can be developed, tasks completed and under guidance and supervision prepare reports for a variety of formal and informal settings. Contributes to therapeutic support and plans with families, where required. Undertake, as required, waking night and or sleeping in duties on a rota basis. Maintains appropriate records in accordance with statutory requirements and policy and provides reports as required. Participate in staff meetings, consultations, group discussions and formal supervision as required. Participates in and contributes to in-service training programmes as appropriate. Implements Health and Safety requirements in accordance with legislation and Board policy. Undertake other duties as allocated within the Home. Essential Criteria 1. Hold a 3-level qualification and have a minimum for 1 years experience, equivalent to 16 hours per week, gained in working directly with families and adolescents by the closing date for applications, OR 2 A-level passes, and 2 years paid experience gained in working directly with families and adolescents by the closing date for applications equivalent to 16 hours per week, during the past 5 years, OR 5 GCSEs grade A-C, and 3 years paid experience gained in working directly with families and adolescents by the closing date for applications equivalent to 16 hours per week, during the past 5 years, OR N.V.Q. Level 3 in a subject relevant to working with young people, families and communities, plus 3 years paid experience, equivalent to 16 hours per week, gained in working directly with families and adolescents by the closing date for applications. Current registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council on the relevant part of the register OR Have current registration with one of the Social Care Registration Bodies in England, Scotland or Wales and is eligible to register with NISCC. In these circumstances applicants must be able to demonstrate at interview they will be in a position to register with NISCC should they be offered a post with the trust by providing evidence of their current registration. Before taking up appointment applicants must have secured Registration with NISCC on the relevant part of the Register. Knowledge of legislation, policy, procedures and current issues in family and childcare. Demonstrate an understanding of the current challenges facing young people and families.
