HSJ Information was bought by Inspirit Capital in mid-2024. We are entering an exciting new chapter as we separate from former owner, Wilmington PLC, and stand up our own independent IT and technology environment.
We are looking for a dynamic Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join our top Senior Leadership Team. This is a unique opportunity to lead our technology strategy, oversee IT operations, and shape the future of HSJ’s technology landscape.
The Role:
As CTO, you will have ultimate responsibility for setting and delivering a unified IT & technology strategy. You will lead our IT operations and manage our outsourced partners, covering business critical applications, hosting, compliance and cybersecurity. You will lead our in-house technology team, developing and maintaining client-facing products. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring HSJ’s technology capabilities are robust, innovative, and ready to meet the challenges of a fast-moving, data-intensive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and Lead IT & Technology Strategy: Define and implement a cohesive IT & Technology strategy that aligns with HSJ’s business plan and supports our goals.
* Transition Leadership: Ensure the IT environment post-separation from Wilmington PLC is fit for purpose, with risks mitigated and operations optimised.
* Build and Lead High-Performing Teams: Create a collaborative IT & Technology function that is seen as a true business partner, adding value across the organisation.
* Supplier Management: Oversee relationships with key technology providers, including Nasstar (hosting and infrastructure) and Credera/Nagarro (business systems support including Salesforce, Marketo & Netsuite). Manage performance, KPIs, SLAs, and commercial terms.
* Data Security and Compliance: Ensure robust data security measures are in place, adhering to GDPR, customer requirements, and industry best practices. Own and improve IT-related policies and procedures.
* Support Sales Growth: Collaborate with the Sales team to provide expertise for RFI, RFP, and bid responses, ensuring technology-related submissions are compelling and accurate.
* Governance and Budgeting: Implement strong governance frameworks, manage IT budgets, and oversee cash management for IT licensing and services.
* Innovation and Future Challenges: Drive innovation in AI and address emerging challenges in the IT landscape to ensure HSJ stays ahead of the curve.
* Employee Support: Create effective IT support systems for both office-based and home-based employees.
What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for a forward-thinking and experienced technology leader who thrives on driving transformation and delivering results. The ideal candidate will:
* Have a strong track record in a senior IT leadership role, with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and working closely with Digital Product teams.
* Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders, negotiating change, and representing HSJ in customer and supplier discussions.
* Have hands-on experience implementing and managing SaaS applications and Public Cloud solutions (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and being an effective customer to major outsourced partners.
* Possess a deep understanding of ISO27001 and CE+ compliance, as well as experience working in data-intensive product environments.
* Show a strong ability to manage complex supply chains, act as an effective customer to major service providers, and deliver business-critical outcomes.
* Ideally have experience working within a Private Equity environment.
