Dalkia UK has a great opportunity for a meticulous Assistant Quantity Surveyor to provide advice and report on and control all commercial and financial aspects of projects and contracts. You will be based out of our Manchester office but will be travelling to sites across the North of England and other parts of the UK when required.
Hours of work:
37.5 Hours Monday to Friday; must be expected to work hours to suit the role.
Responsibilities:
* Produce and send enquiries to subcontractors inviting them to tender and engage with the supply chain.
* Receive and analyse quotations, liaising with Project Managers regarding price, proven history, availability, etc. Notify in writing both successful and unsuccessful subcontractors in a timely manner.
* Produce and process formal subcontract documents, assess and certify interim and final payments and final subcontract accounts.
* Produce bill of quantity/activity schedule for payment purposes.
* Produce cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes.
* Monitor and control income and expenditure on contracts, e.g., interim/final applications for payment/final accounts/payments for late monies, etc. Liaising where necessary with the relevant people, e.g., engineers, clients, etc.
* Provide Change Control and monitoring of Change across the course of a project.
Requirements:
* Degree, HNC or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or other Construction Degree.
* 1 to 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
* Ability to use a range of IT packages including Microsoft Office; must be proficient in Excel.
* Exceptional relationship-building skills.
* Self-motivated and proactive.
* Commercial awareness and understanding of the construction process.
* Negotiation skills and ability to apply those skills internally, externally & with our supply chain.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines.
* Keen to pursue personal development needs and maintain up-to-date knowledge.
* Hold a full clean driving licence.
* Experience of facilities management industry.
* Ability to convey and explain information correctly to all levels.
* Use logic to identify and solve problems.
* Educated to NVQ Level 4 in a constructed related discipline or possessing a relevant professional qualification (RICS or CIOB) and/or relevant experience.
