Ethiopiaid is seeking a new Trustee to join our friendly, well-established Board to support our financial oversight and governance.
We are a small international fundraising charity based in Bath, that focuses on fundraising to support our local implementing partners in Ethiopia. Funds are raised through direct and online appeals, applications to grant makers, from major donors and through legacies. In 2024, over £2.4 million was raised.
As our Finance Lead Trustee, you will provide scrutiny and oversight of the work of Ethiopiaid, with a particular focus on financial issues. You will use your financial knowledge and experience to review the charity’s management accounts, assisting the CEO and Senior Finance Manager in achieving the charity’s financial targets, as well as providing Board oversight of the annual audited accounts process.
You will be responsible for:
1. Reviewing our accounts
2. Ensuring relevant financial policies are in place as required by the charity commission
3. Interpreting financial information and having the confidence to raise questions and challenge
4. Overseeing the charity’s expenditure and return on investment
5. Thinking creatively and strategically, exercising good and impartial judgement
6. Liaising with senior staff to ensure financial reports are user-friendly for non-finance trustees
7. Providing support for the Chair of trustees and the whole board
8. Being available to support the charity’s CEO and Senior Finance Manager as needed
9. Having a good understanding of, or being willing to learn, the rules and regulations around charity finance

1. An interest in international development and the issues we are supporting our partners to tackle in Ethiopia
