The job itself
Required as soon as possible, we are seeking to appoint a new Cook Manager to join our friendly team at St Mary's CE Primary School.
This post is engaging, creative, challenging and varied and will suit an established caterer with some previous experience of working in school catering and/or a commercial kitchen.
The ideal candidate will hold a catering qualification, such as NVQ level 2/ 706 1 + 2 and a minimum of Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification or equivalent. You must have a good knowledge of the allergen legislation introduced by the government in 2014 and a working knowledge of the Government's Food Standards regarding school food and drink, along with some knowledge of special dietary needs and nutritional requirements, or be willing to attend the necessary courses to gain the appropriate knowledge and skills.
You will need to be a team player who can work to a high standard, whilst possessing the appropriate supervisory skills to manage a kitchen. You will also need to be approachable, enthusiastic, flexible, and committed to providing and developing the school's meal service further.
You will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, and service of food daily.
Also you will need to be aware of:
* Allergens in accordance with current food safety regulations.
* School Food Standards.
* Health & Safety regulations.
* Maintaining the high standard of hygiene in the kitchen.
