What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Head of Architecture you’ll be involved in:
* Improving resilience and redundancy of the current Architecture.
* Provide architecture design and support for the engineering teams in conformance with our best practices.
* Implement improvements to current and proposed architectural practices.
* Contribute to the development, publishing and promotion of architectural policies and standards.
* Assist in ensuring compliance with IT strategy, policies, and standards across all projects.
* Attend agile ceremonies.
* Document Architecture design and decision of project work.
* Provide support and guidance to software engineers to help them comprehend and implement cloud best practices effectively.
Who we’re looking for

* Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with all business stakeholders.
* In-depth knowledge in AWS network, core and serverless services (AWS certifications preferred).
* Knowledge of Well Architected Framework.
* Security infrastructure and best practice.
* Engineering/technical background with hands-on experience in architecting, designing and developing cloud solutions.
* A solid understanding of architectural patterns.
* Flexible and responsive to both people/client needs and opportunities.
* Good at both writing and presenting solutions.
* Translate business requirements to development teams and interpret technical feedback to the business.
What your impact and success looks like
As an AWS Solutions Architect we expect your success and impact in the early stages of your career with us to look something like this:
Within 1 month:
* Familiarisation with AWS Services: Understanding core AWS services, their functionalities, use cases, and how they integrate to form solutions. This includes services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, Cognito, etc.
* Engagement with existing Architectures: Learning about the existing infrastructure, solutions, and architectures within the company.
* Initial Solution Design or Recommendations: Participating in discussions or contributing ideas to initial solution designs or recommendations for upcoming projects.
* Integration with the Engineering Teams: Actively engage with engineering teams to understand their workflows, challenges, and requirements regarding AWS services.
Within 3 months:
* Embedding into a Development Team: Building on the engagement with the engineering teams, you will be embedded into the Desktop Development team to support and architect AWS-based solutions.
* Project Engagement: Take on more significant roles in ongoing projects.
* Documentation and Best Practices: Begin documenting architectural decisions, best practices, and lessons learned.
Within 6 months:
* Project Ownership: Lead or significantly contribute to larger-scale projects.
* Strategic Planning: Contribute to the long-term strategic planning for AWS adoption within the team.
* Deepening AWS Expertise: Continue expanding your knowledge of AWS services.
