What your typical day looks like: Maintain DHU's premises and assets, including minor building repairs, redecoration, and plumbing. Conduct planned maintenance checks (fire alarms, generators, water temperatures) and carry out remedial works. Assist with stock control, furniture/equipment moves, and general portering. Perform grounds and garden maintenance, including litter picking and tool upkeep. Manage contractors, support team members, and adapt to organisational needs. To be a successful Maintenance Assistant, you will need: Relevant qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds) and experience in building maintenance. Full clean UK driving license and knowledge of health & safety responsibilities. Ability to prioritise tasks, use initiative, and work flexibly. Physically capable of lifting heavy objects, working at heights, and using tools/machinery. Willingness to adapt and meet operational requirements.
