Position: Electrical Engineer
Location: Thetford, Norfolk
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 6am - 3pm
Capacity for Role: Permanent position
Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 Per annum
Job Overview
Our client is currently recruiting for an electrical engineer to join their busy workshop team. Candidates will need to be flexible to duties and working hours, as overtime may be offered.
Main Duties
1. Support & encourage Health & Safety (H & S) practices.
2. Ensure all equipment and systems are operating safely, with particular emphasis on electrical systems and switching.
3. Carry out routine safety system checks (Fire Alarm & Emergency Light) and record accordingly.
4. Manage/oversee the testing of electrical products and systems, as well as the implementation of new electrical equipment.
5. Ensure all equipment is serviced in accordance with the Company's schedule, maintaining records of work carried out.
6. Liaise with external service providers/contractors for equipment that cannot be serviced internally, ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities under Health and Safety regulations.
7. Log both scheduled maintenance and reactive repairs, agreeing on further work required.
8. Provide a portfolio of critical spares and create detailed stock locations, ensuring stores' stock levels are sufficient and orders are requested in a timely manner.
9. Support Senior Setters to ensure lines are ready for production and in routine maintenance tasks.
10. Ensure Senior Setters are competent in the changeovers they carry out.
11. Assist in organising and maintaining full Engineering cover, including Senior Setters.
12. Maintain awareness of Health and Safety standards and requirements, including Risk Assessments, ensuring full implementation.
13. Ensure all Codes of Practice are adhered to.
14. Look for ways to improve Engineering processes, facilities, and/or machines for cost savings and better efficiencies/output.
15. Support the identification and solutions to projects that will enhance the Business or Products.
16. Undertake any other duties as required to fulfil the needs of the position.
Candidate Attributes
1. Engineering qualification (e.g., Level 3 BTEC or City and Guilds diploma) with considerable experience in operational engineering.
2. Ideally, an electrical specific qualification (e.g., 18th Edition Electrical Regs).
3. Experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
4. Proven hands-on experience and knowledge of electrical manufacturing processes.
5. Excellent attention to detail.
6. Electrical fault-finding skills.
7. Strong manual dexterity.
8. Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
9. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Excellent communication skills.
11. Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
12. Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure.
13. Must be honest, hardworking, enthusiastic, and reliable.
14. PLC fault-finding skills would be an advantage.
