Brookhouse Aerospace is a prominent name within the Aerospace Sector, providing Advanced Composite and Metal Components for Civil & Defence Aerospace applications. We are currently seeking a skilled Hand Router Operator to join our production team.
Job Description
The Hand Router Operator (Aerospace) is responsible for manually operating routers to trim, shape, and finish composite materials, metals, and other components used in aerospace products. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, steady hands, and a thorough understanding of aerospace materials and tolerances.
Key responsibilities:
1. Operate hand routers to trim, cut, and shape composite and metallic materials according to precise specifications and engineering drawings.
2. Set up workpieces and secure them properly using clamps, fixtures, or jigs before routing.
3. Follow detailed work instructions to ensure accurate material removal and finishing.
4. Inspect finished components to verify conformance to specifications, using precision measuring tools such as callipers, micrometres, and gauges.
5. Perform routine maintenance on hand routers, including sharpening bits, changing router bits, and ensuring tools are in good working condition.
6. Work closely with quality control and engineering teams to address any discrepancies or issues in the fabrication process.
7. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
8. Document work performed, including time spent, materials used, and any deviations from standard procedures.
9. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
Requirements:
1. 2+ years of experience operating hand routers in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry.
2. Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and work orders.
3. Experience working with aerospace materials such as composites, aluminium, and titanium.
4. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise routing operations.
5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing to a team-oriented environment.
6. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate components.
7. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle materials safely.
