What We Are Looking For...
Job Purpose:
The Social Media Assistant will support the strategic management of River Island's social media channels across all divisions. The role focuses on executing social media campaigns, managing day-to-day channel operations, contributing to the organic social strategy, and collaborating with teams across the business.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Assist the Social Media Executive and Senior Social Media Manager in implementing the content strategy, focusing on brand awareness, engagement, and follower growth.
2. Collaborate with the Social Media Executive to manage the content calendar, scheduling and publishing content across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube.
3. Content Creation:
1. Brainstorm and execute creative ideas for social media campaigns that resonate with River Island's audience.
2. React promptly to emerging social media trends to keep content fresh and engaging.
3. Appear in social content when needed.
4. Manage community interactions by monitoring and responding to customer comments and messages, ensuring a positive brand experience. Share feedback weekly to guide future content strategies.
5. Contribute to campaign ideation sessions, providing insights and ideas for social channel strategies.
6. Support the Senior Social Media Manager in measuring, monitoring, and reporting on social media activities and performance metrics.
7. Conduct competitor analysis and stay up-to-date on social media trends, identifying growth opportunities.
8. Work collaboratively with teams across departments (e.g., Brand, Creative, Buying and eCommerce) to ensure cohesive and aligned campaign execution.
Skills & Experience:
1. Previous experience in a social media marketing, or digital content role (entry-level applicants encouraged).
2. Strong interest in fashion and youth culture, with a passion for emerging digital trends and social platforms.
3. A creative thinker, capable of interpreting the brand aesthetic and maintaining consistent on-brand content.
4. In-depth knowledge of major social media platforms and content trends, particularly within fashion and retail.
5. Passion for content creation and storytelling.
6. Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal (SEO copywriting is a plus).
7. Highly organised, detail-oriented, and adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
8. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret social media metrics and optimise content strategies.
