An exciting opportunity has arisen at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust for an experienced hand therapist to join the multidisciplinary burns, orthopaedics, and plastics team as a Clinical Specialist in Hand Therapy. The vacancy is open to both Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
The post will include treating acute injuries and the rehabilitation of the upper limb. You will also be delivering a specialist clinic for wrist fractures alongside the consultants.
This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated therapist to develop the role of clinical specialist in hand therapy alongside other clinical specialists within the team.
The post holder will continue to develop and deliver a high level of therapy through a team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to the Sheffield hand unit, working closely with the Consultants and other members of the MDT.
Main duties of the job
1. Accountable for the delivery of high-quality therapy care within the defined clinical area and working with and supporting specialties within the team.
2. Provide clinical and professional leadership to Therapy colleagues in the specialty area.
3. Responsible for providing expert clinical practice with advanced clinical reasoning, training, and support to staff.
4. Lead evaluation and development of clinical practice within the specialism ensuring compliance with National and local guidelines and frameworks.
5. Responsible for clinical standards and evidence-based practice through audit, clinical effectiveness, and research activity.
6. Assist and support Clinical Service Managers and Lead Therapists in the service in the improvement and modernization of services.

MSK Therapy provides integrated Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy to the MSK Care Group at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The MSK Care group is made up of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Pain Management, Metabolic Bone, Hand Centre, MSK Therapy, and Podiatric Surgery.

Qualifications
* BSc in Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy
* HCPC Registration
* Postgraduate Masters level module in a relevant subject to this post or equivalent knowledge and skills accumulated through formal training and experiential learning
* Master's degree in relevant Specialty
Experience
* Extensive experience as a qualified therapist
* Significant experience at Specialist level in relevant specialty
* Clinical Educator
* Participation in Clinical Audit & Practice Development
* Supervision and line management of Therapy staff including appraisal
* Professional Presentations
* Experience in emergency respiratory on-call including weekend work (PT only)
* Member of Special Interest Group
