The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Job Description
The Procurement Manager will oversee both direct and indirect purchasing activities, supporting the Stourport manufacturing site with an annual expenditure of approximately £8 million, involving around 500 suppliers. Additionally, they will manage a team of direct reports.
Whilst the jobholder will require the ability to think strategically there is also the need to carry out operational duties in supporting the plant.
Responsibilities
Operations
1. Ensure materials, products and services are delivered on time to support the manufacturing plant.
2. Monitor and report KPI’s including cost reduction, delivery, quality and department efficiency.
3. Management of a comprehensive Supplier Risk Mitigation (SRM) programme including supplier audits, supplier corrective action issuing and follow up, and adherence to strict specification requirements.
4. Take a key role in MRP control and improvement actions to ensure the business operates efficiently.
5. Negotiate and manage energy (Electricity & Gas) contracts for all Stourport site or be part of the Team if undertaken at group level.
6. Operate the company business system (IFS) to place and expedite purchase orders, manage the supplier & purchased parts database and authorize requisitions and invoices.
7. Take overall responsibility for the performance of 3PL suppliers that deliver product to customers (the Stourport site exports approximately 80% of sales).
Financial Results
1. Build & maintain relationships with key suppliers including contract management and payment terms.
2. Ensure the business is not exposed to excessive cost increases and reductions are achieved where possible.
3. Manage relevant budgets (OH etc) to achieve or exceed budgeted levels in order to consistently drive profit growth.
Business Development
1. Act as the procurement lead for new business development with respect to sourcing and negotiating terms for bought-in products and services.
Strategy
1. Develop market knowledge for key raw materials and monitor to identify possible new sources and protect the business from supply shortages.
2. Be part of the Team that Develop annual Operational budget and strategy to assist in delivery of business objectives and year on year improvements in the performance of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery & People.
People & Culture
1. Supports the behaviour of working as One Morgan, sharing best practice and collaborating with colleagues across other business units. Fosters functional and cross-functional relationships between Morgan Sites. Understands and lives by the Morgan Corporate Values.
2. Through active personal leadership and with the support of the business Senior Leadership Team, create a motivated and engaged climate in order to deliver goals effectively and efficiently.
3. Identify and deliver the necessary Operational resources, development of succession plans in order to create a high performing operation ready to deliver on current and future years’ targets.
4. Ensures full participation in the performance review system for all levels of staff. Conducts regular, honest and candid reviews to drive high performance in all team members. Identifies development needs for all staff and works to address as appropriate.
Environmental, Safety, Risk & Compliance
1. To be committed to and champion a strong EHS culture on site. Ensuring that all procurement staff are competent, adequately trained and supported to enable them to carry out their duties safely.
2. To develop a strong culture of near miss reporting across all staff to assist in driving improvements to the site safety performance.
3. Maintain a robust internal control environment in order to comply with local regulations and Morgan Advanced Materials plc policies.
4. A site Champion for the ‘ThinkSAFE’ initiative and personally lead the development of our safety culture across all locations in Morgan.
