Warehouse Supervisor
DSV is looking to recruit a Warehouse Supervisor in Feltham. We are seeking an organised, reliable, detail and service-oriented warehouse supervisor to our growing team.
In this position, you will monitor warehouse inventory as well as manage warehouse staff to ensure that products are stored and shipped out in an accurate, efficient manner. Previous warehouse experience is required. The ideal candidate must be driven and want progression throughout DSV.
* Must be able to follow standard operating procedures and work in a methodical and tidy manner, possessing a comprehensive understanding of material / stock management techniques and inventory control methods and procedures, while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, health and environment procedures. These roles are working on night shifts on a 4 on, 4 off basis. Starting at 7pm until 7am.
* Reporting to the Manager, the warehouse supervisor has overall accountability for daily warehousing operations which includes receiving, put away, inventory, picking, packing and delivery of stock items, operating Manual Handling Equipment as required and minimizing any losses and damages during these processes.
* Complete all tasks with a high degree of accuracy to ensure and maintain organisation standard, maintaining a safe working environment within the Warehouse and reporting any incidents or accidents immediately to the relevant manager.
Key Tasks
* Handle the goods in the vehicles/containers to ensure they are ready for replenishment.
* Ensure the quality of housekeeping is always maintained, operating in a tidy as you go manner.
* Carry out all tasks connected with Goods being returned which includes, unloading vehicles, sorting returns and putting stock away.
* Ensure quality and accuracy whilst performing any operation.
* Perform quality, audit and other checks on product or storage locations as required.
* Supervise and direct warehouse staff; put worker safety as a top priority.
* Hire, train, communicate, collaborate with other team members.
* Perform all other duties as reasonably required that are consistent with both training and experience.
Duties / Responsibilities
* Coordinate and oversee all warehouse logistics.
* Motivate and lead warehouse staff to effectively carry out given tasks.
* Constantly work to improve processes such as employee workflow.
* Take part in grievance and disciplinary hearings, and monitor performance and absence.
* Track and account for all incoming and outgoing products.
* Confirm proper and timely delivery of products, inventory counts and bond checks.
* Supervise all forklift operations.
* Maintain warehouse and machinery, ensuring forklift/warehouse and racking checks are completed and a clean, tidy workspace is always kept.
* Abide by and enforce facility rules state laws and regulations.
* Act up for management to cover leave and absence.
* Health and safety – to be fully compliant with all health and safety requirements including warehouse procedures, PPE and housekeeping.
Skills and Competencies
* 2 x GCSE’S – Desirable but not essential.
* A supervisory qualification – Desirable but not essential.
* Supervisory and Team Leader skills with the ability to motivate, develop and supervise others.
* Use own initiative/proactive in suggesting improvement in procedures.
* Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality.
* Knowledge and understanding of lean techniques may be advantageous.
* A good working knowledge of Health and Safety and security requirements, with ability to challenge health and safety failures.
* Good IT skills, in particular emails, spreadsheets and databases.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal.
* Good time-management and planning skills with the ability to meet targets and deadlines.
* Excellent attention to detail skills.
* Analytical and numerical.
* Use of transport.
