Karoo Group has a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Manager who will be an advocate for the young person’s voice, safeguarding, well-being and who will provide strong, motivational leadership to the team. We are seeking a credible, experienced, ambitious and professional Children’s Residential Home Registered Manager to lead our new solo provision near Wisbech in Cambridgeshire.
The successful applicant will act as a corporate parent to the young people we care for and be responsible for shaping and delivering the home’s Statement of Purpose in accordance with the relevant legislation, procedures, and policies. You will have day-to-day management for the home and be accountable for all compliance and the delivery of a child centred approach encompassing all the health and educational needs of our young people.

Duties include:
* Managing a Children’s Home Solo Provision on a day to day basis.
* Ensuring the protection and safeguarding of young people in our care.
* Supporting our young people with complex needs.
* Ensuring all young people have up to date risk assessments and their voice is validated at each and every opportunity. Planning activities to enrich the life of the young person.
* Coaching, supporting and developing staff, including supervision, to maximise their performance and ensure high standards of care, values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, legislation and contractual and inspection framework requirements are met.
* Budget planning and preparation for all areas.
* Interpreting and implementing changes in legislation relating to occupancy, liaising with Local Authorities, Multi Agency Partners, Commissioners and wider stakeholders.
* Implementing effective CPD for all staff.
* Embedding our trauma informed approach, building trust and respect with the young person, ensuring a consistent message within the team.
* Responsibility for effective rota, on call systems allowing smooth operation of the home.
* Managing the complex behaviours of our young people to encourage them to engage in a positive and structured routine, including supporting in crisis intervention.
* Providing care and support to the children and young people to encompass all physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and social needs of our children and young people.
* Other duties commensurate with the level and nature of the post.
Person Specification
Experience (minimum 2 – 5 years) of working with behaviour that challenge, complex needs in a residential environment. Experience of managing staff and completing supervision and appraisal processes (at least 1 year). Previous experience in a Deputy Manager or Registered Manager role in a Residential Children’s Care Setting. Extensive knowledge and practical experience of the Children’s Act, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standard 2015, Care Standards Act 2000, SCCIF, and Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations including the Quality Standards 2015. Knowledge and practice of national developments in services for SEND children and young people. Knowledge and ability to work constructively with behaviours that challenge under a Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) and Trauma Informed Practice ethos. NVQ or Diploma Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Residential Children’s Services or equivalent. NVQ or Diploma Level 3 in Residential Children’s Services or equivalent. Effective communication and dealing with Local Authorities, commissioners’ external agencies, and potential customers. Experience in managing efficient teams with budget responsibility in the care industry. Full UK driving license and use of a vehicle for business purposes.
Remuneration: £45,000-£52,000 plus £10,000 annual OFSTED bonus.
There is also an opportunity to manage up to 3 solo provisions within the group (within the geographical area), with an increment in salary for each home as well as the opportunity to earn up to £10k OFSTED bonus on each home. Therefore it's a potential package of £100k.
