We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a national facilities management company working with high-profile commercial and residential clients, including letting agents, corporate offices, and property management companies. They are looking for an experienced and self-sufficient Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Engineer to deliver first-class maintenance services across a range of sites. This is a hands-on, field-based role covering Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties, London area and the South, with some further national travel depending on the jobs. The role will involve working independently, attending client sites to carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks to a high standard. This will involve often early starts and late finishes depending on the timing and the location of the jobs. Key Responsibilities: Carry out general maintenance works across commercial and residential properties. Complete painting, decorating, and flooring repairs. Perform minor brickwork and small building repairs. Undertake interior fixes such as carpentry, basic plumbing adjustments (non-specialist), and fittings repair. Support grounds maintenance where required. Deliver high-quality work with excellent attention to detail and presentation. Represent the company professionally at all times, providing great customer service and clear communication. Respond to reactive maintenance requests and complete tasks efficiently and safely. Travel between multiple client sites; occasional national travel may be required to meet client needs. Assist with job costings and advise on sourcing materials for works. Work early mornings or late finishes as required to suit job demands (core hours 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday). Attend monthly or twice-monthly team meetings at the Borehamwood head office. Complete job reports and communicate with the management team regarding works carried out. What We’re Looking For: 3 years’ experience in general building maintenance or facilities maintenance roles. Strong all-round maintenance skills including painting, decorating, flooring, brickwork, carpentry, and minor repairs. Ability to problem-solve on-site and work independently without supervision. Experience working with commercial clients and residential property management companies. Professional, presentable, and confident communicator. Strong time management skills and ability to manage workload efficiently. Flexibility to work early starts or later finishes when required. Full, clean UK driving licence (a company vehicle will be provided). Able to attend the Borehamwood head office for meetings and team updates.
