YOUR ROLE
Our Procurement team based in Ashby de la Zouch have an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused Category Lead where you will be responsible for managing a range of categories critical to operational and customer service excellence within the organisation.
As the Category Lead you will work closely with budget holders and key stakeholders to develop and deploy sourcing strategies, manage category expenditure, drive cost down initiatives and engage with suppliers to introduce new technologies, innovation and improvements adding value to the wider business.
This is a hybrid role; therefore this role requires flexibility when it comes to travel and working location, you will either be based at our Head Office in Ashby de la Zouch, at core operations or working from home.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Reporting into the Head of Procurement, you will implement clear business plans and deliver against agreed targets, communicating supply risks to management and stakeholders and lead contractual negotiations with suppliers to ensure that commercial propositions are secured. You will manage the selection of suppliers through to contract implementations, ensuring contractual agreements are met by measuring and monitoring performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and service. You will prepare recommendations following commercial evaluation of supplier business proposal and implement supplier development programs.
You will actively contribute to annual procurement plans to achieve annual performance targets, monitor, and report on KPI and market trends, identify opportunities to contribute to cost down initiatives and support the implementation of procurement policies and procedures.
You will develop and implement category strategies in collaboration with stakeholders, forging strong working relationships with local and global procurement teams and manage the RFX process for your assigned categories.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Our ideal candidate will have proven category management experience with a strong understanding of contract law and contract drafting, negotiating terms and conditions and competent in supplier evaluation and capability assessment.
You will have a proven track record of cost analysis models, knowledgeable with procurement tools and techniques and proficient in total cost of ownership (TCO) cost modelling principles and the application with suppliers.
You will be experienced in building and developing exceptional internal and external relationships, a skilled decision maker, negotiator and influencer who is able to interact and engage with colleagues at all levels. You will thrive in a fast-paced and busy environment, confident in your ability to drive sustainable improvements that drive business performance.
It would be desirable, however not essential if you are CIPS Qualified.
