We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5/6 who has proven post registration demonstrable experience to join our team as a permanent Junior Sister/Charge Nurse on Marlborough Ward. This post would be an ideal opportunity for someone looking for a more senior role or an existing band 6 who would relish a change in environment and a new challenge. An enthusiasm for the speciality of acute care of the elderly is essential, and a teaching/assessing qualification and evidence of post basic study are desirable.

Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible for organising and leading teams of nursing staff within a clinical setting.
2. To be recognised as a clinical expert within the post holder's particular care environment, and providing clinical advice.
3. To be responsible for meeting the NMC requirements in line with the Code of Professional Conduct for their scope of responsibility.
4. To lead by example, demonstrating effective role modelling to all members of the nursing team.
5. To act as deputy to the nominated ward manager on all aspects of management and governance.
Job responsibilities
1. Perform comprehensive assessment of patients nursing needs. Plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to patients health care needs.
2. To demonstrate high standards of clinical practice over and above that required of a band 5.
3. To act as the clinical expert for patients within the ward area in particular using specialist knowledge and expertise to manage patients with complex medical and social needs.
4. To assist in managing patient flow, working with patients, relatives and the multi-disciplinary team to pro-actively manage the admission and discharge process.
5. Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring high standards and safe practice.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience Essential
* Demonstrable experience within a similar role
* Demonstrable experience in a secondary care setting
* Demonstrable leadership skills
* Previous demonstrable experience in a leadership capacity with a recognised supervisory role
Qualifications Essential
* NMC Registered
* Assessor Course or willingness to attend
* Specific post basic qualification / or equivalent experience relevant to the area of clinical practice
* Proven knowledge in Specialist area of HCE
Aptitude & Abilities Essential
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to analyse and evaluate information
* Ability to work collaboratively
