To work with a young adult to enable her to access the community and leisure activities and to enable independence. We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to provide support for a 19 year old young adult who has a diagnosis of autism, OCD and anxiety. The purpose of your role will be to enable her independence and support to take part in activities she enjoys, spending time away from family. You will mostly support out in the community and there will some aspects of supporting at home with activities such as cooking, gardening, arts and crafts, baking and gaming. This friendly young lady enjoys going out on walks, visiting cafes, shopping, going for an ice cream. A main hobby is gaming so it would be ideal if you had an interest in this too. You should be a calm person and we are looking for somebody who can be gently encouraging to support to go out into the community, especially during times when she may not want to go out. There are pets in the household including a rabbit, guinea pigs and a dog so you should be happy to work where pets are present. The initial part of this role role will be to buildup a relationship so that she feels comfortable to go out with you and feel supported. You will work with her and family with this initially. Long term you will support with new hobbies and attending new places. We would also like our support worker to be able to suggest things to do out in the community so you should be willing to be proactive in finding various activities to take part in. Ideally you will be a none smoker. It is not a requirement that you have any qualifications or experience for this role as similar interests and having a good relationship is more important. Car driver with own car is essential due to the nature of the role being mainly out in the community. Expenses will be met by your employer. Rate of pay £13.09 per hour.
