IT Systems Engineer to join the team in Hull, who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organizations IT infrastructure. This includes managing servers, networks, and storage systems to ensure optimal performance and security. The role will also involve monitoring system performance, conducting regular backups, and ensuring disaster recovery plans are in place.
Key Responsibilities of an IT Systems Engineer:
Design, Implement, and Maintain IT Infrastructure: Manage servers, networks, and storage systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
3rd Line Technical Support: Provide face-to-face, email, and phone support to colleagues.
System Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and troubleshoot system performance issues.
Security Measures: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect data and systems.
Collaboration: Work with other IT professionals and departments to support business objectives.
Virtualization Management: Manage and maintain virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Azure).
System Updates and Backups: Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.
Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
End-User Support and Training: Provide technical support and training to end-users.
On-Call Rota: Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours support and cover support roles at other subsidiaries during sickness and holidays.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, and routing.
Cloud Technologies: Experience with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Virtualization: Hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization technologies.
Database Knowledge: Understanding of SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
System Design: Experience in designing and architecting IT systems for optimal performance and scalability.
Troubleshooting: Skilled in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
Security Implementation: Proven experience in implementing and managing security measures.
Backup and Recovery: Establishing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery processes.
Communication: Ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Teamwork: Work effectively within a team to achieve common goals.
Project Management: Experience in managing projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery.
