Service Development, Quality and Innovation Lead

Main duties of the job
Specialising in Microbiological services (environmental and process monitoring including identification to species level) you will work closely with the operational service delivery teams.
You will work closely with the lead pharmacist for quality, overseeing the management of quality, validation and R&D. Youwill develop the quality management and validation teams to ensure competency and capability.
You will take a lead role in research and development within the lab and ensure delivery against annual business plan, providing assurances of progress to the Associate Director of Pharmacy, Transformation and Business, and to the Chief Pharmacist.
You will work closely with service managers and technical specialists.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be the technical specialist with responsibility for innovation and service development management within Pharmacy Quality Control and Aseptics Services, facilitating and managing service development and quality improvement programmes.
Oversight and Leadership for all innovation and service developments within the SQCL. The post holder will also advise in all innovation and service developments within the aseptics unit where appropriate.
A key focus for these service developments will be the Environmental Monitoring Services provided to customers. The post holder will provide microbiological professional and technical expertise.
The post will be responsible for the planning and delivery and monitoring of all projects from all aspects of the service ensuring all innovation and R&D is carried out according to best practice and GMP. This will require working closely with and guiding all technical experts in the department, to ensure successful delivery.
Support the Lead Pharmacist for Quality (Deputising where appropriate) and the Operational Manager of the SQCL Lab, with delivery of service, ensuring the smooth running of the QA and innovation aspects of the service. Supervising and guiding SQCL staff and ensuring they are supported throughout the duration of the service development projects.
o This will require ensuring the operational quality service is conducted professionally and in a timely way.
o This will include monitoring the quality meetings and quality indicators are within targets and appropriate mitigation and corrective actions are implemented as and when appropriate.
To make significant contribution to the development of the medium to long term strategy for the service and to ensure that the fundamental aspects of service are in place.
Provide leadership which inspires, motivates and empowers others within SQCL and Pharmacy department.
Provide all aspects of Line management of the Operational Quality teams.
The post holder will be responsible for coordinating safe standards of service delivery, monitoring and controlling expenditure, monitoring the quality of support and environment and ensuring safe staffing levels at all times.
Contribute to the development of all staff within SQCL and Aseptics, with particular responsibility for ensuring all staff have a thorough understanding of the scientific aspects of the environment and the implications of practice and behaviours within the facilities. The post holder will work closely with the Education and Training Lead to ensure all staff development is monitored and documented appropriately.
Person Specification
Qualifications/registration
* MSc level or equivalent experience in a subject relevant to micro service and innovation
* Post graduate level management and leadership qualification
* Experience and understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements
* Experience of working in a regulated environment to pharmaceutical regulatory standards
* experience of education and training in a relevant discipline

* Relevant and significant senior experience including management of service
