An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Health Care Support Worker with drug and alcohol lived experience, to join the Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service Focus Wellness and Recovery Hub in Dumfries. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of a trained nurse and within the wider team, supporting service users with alcohol and/or drug issues.
The post is for 22.5 hrs per week and is fixed term for 24 months.
Applicants will have good communication skills and have a keen desire to work within the Specialist Drug and Alcohol and Service. Successful applicants will receive training and development to enable them to deliver a range of interventions which include group work, trauma informed approach, safeguarding, venepuncture, drug toxicology screening, Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) testing, Blood Borne Virus (BBV) testing, ECG’s, overdose awareness and Naloxone training, in addition to other mandatory training.
Funding for this post is specific for applicants with lived experienced of drug and alcohol with sustained recovery in excess of 2 years. All candidates are expected to outline this experience in their application.
