I am looking to speak with a Commissioning Engineer who will be part of our substation build team working on UKPN's 11kV, 33kV & 132kV Distribution Network. Your role will be to test and commission high voltage plant and apparatus onto the live distribution network, integrating with existing protection schemes.
Work Overview
Provide technical support for the project teams:
* Attend client progress meetings, pre-start meetings, and client audits where required.
* Encourage and integrate innovation and cost-effective working methods across the contracts.
* Identify and resolve design issues raised on site and conform to Distribution Network Operator standards.
* Provide technical support for projects at a concept stage to ensure robust, cost-effective build solutions.
* Test and commission high voltage plant and apparatus on the 11kV, 33kV, and 132kV networks.
* Testing and commissioning of alarm and control installations.
* Review and, if required, correct scheme-provided drawings.
* Safely put people to work that may be under their charge.
* Ensure all plant and equipment is tested and commissioned to current legislation.
* Support and mentor other members of the team to enhance their technical knowledge.
Skills & Experience
* Track record of testing and commissioning on and around the high voltage distribution network.
* Sound understanding of engineering policy, procedure, and legislation in addition to sound decision-making skills.
* The ability to communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
* Knowledge of current legislation relating to health, safety, and environment.
* Ability to work within a team environment including clients, designers, and site project staff.
* Qualified to HNC / Degree Level in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Candidates with other recognised qualifications will be considered if they can demonstrate they have worked in a similar environment.
