Job Overview This is an exciting opportunity to join our Occupational Therapy Team working as part of our Older Adults Community Mental Health Team. The role of the Occupational Therapy Assistant is to undertake those tasks delegated by Senior Therapy staff in the team, for which they have been trained and are competent. The Occupational Therapy Assistant on completion of training always continues to act under the guidance of a registered practitioner. This role also has the possibility of Band 4 Apprenticeship Main duties of the job Clinical Duties To support therapy staff in the implementation of treatment programmes. To carry out one to one and group interventions as directed by Senior Therapy staff. To plan and facilitate group activities as directed by the Senior Therapists. To develop rapport with clients to encourage their interest in skills. To be aware of individual patients needs through communication with Therapy staff. To observe general behaviour, ability and response of clients/patients to activities. To have an awareness of the situations that may make clients/patients vulnerable or at risk. To report any concerns immediately to Senior Therapy staff. To respect clients/patients choices and confidentiality at all times. To record interventions in an agreed format. Any other tasks delegated by qualified staff as appropriate to grade and experience. Facilitate groups covering a number of different locations and community visits.
