CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Crisis and Home Treatment Team, who work alongside the wider CAMHS service providing mental health support to young people and their families in NE Lincs.
This is a Band 5 to Band 6 development post with opportunities to enhance your skills, knowledge, and experience. We offer lots of training and development opportunities including ASYE and preceptorship. We are a friendly, supportive team with a focus on staff wellbeing.
Main Duties of the Job
This role will require you to provide care to young people experiencing a mental health crisis. Completing assessments of risk, formulating safety plans, and care plans to support young people to remain in their community and receive care at home as an alternative to an inpatient hospital admission. Our team utilises excellent clinical skills to provide mental health support to children and young people, working closely with their families, carers, and partner agencies at a time of crisis and to collaboratively care plan for any further interventions that may be required. This role will include team working and autonomous practice with responsibility for caseload management from first contact to discharge. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge from all areas of the wider CAMHS service.

Job Responsibilities
1. To provide a high standard of clinical care ensuring safe and effective assessment, treatment, and comprehensive discharge planning using highly developed clinical reasoning skills and appropriate assessment tools.
2. Provide rapid response to children/young people presenting with urgent and emergency mental health presentations over a 24/7 rota including on-call duties, out of hours.
3. Work as part of a team in providing intensive home treatment for young people at risk of hospital admission and to facilitate ongoing care and discharge from inpatient units.
4. Participate in the On-Call rota on a regular basis.
5. Engage with young people to provide mental health and risk assessment, risk management plans, and taking appropriate therapeutic risk for young people following crisis.
6. Provide full assessment and appropriate follow-up care via care planning, individual and group interventions, in partnership with young people/carers and other workers involved in care delivery.
7. Work in accordance with relevant childcare, health legislation, and professional standards in partnership with wider children's services and to engage fully with Safeguarding, Common Assessment Framework, and other processes which require working together with other agencies.
8. Proactively involve children/young people and their families/carers in service development including using service questionnaires to obtain structured feedback.
9. Provide a professional, non-stigmatising service to children/young people and families/carers.
10. Work closely with other colleagues within the service to enable effective transitions to and from other areas.
11. Ensure best practice by incorporating NICE guidance and meeting healthcare standards.
12. Adhere to Navigo policies in consideration of children in need and safeguarding issues and in maintaining accurate and effective written records.
13. Develop Band 5 staff and provide supervision/line management on all of the above.
14. Use outcome measures to evidence effectiveness of treatments provided.
15. Participate in management and clinical supervision.
16. Actively contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice within the team.
17. Actively participate in the delivery of training opportunities for staff and students.
18. To be able to travel independently and work flexibly.
19. Manage case-load and service delivery in accordance with, and in order to contribute towards the attainment of, the Service / Navigo's productivity requirements including waiting times.
20. Participate in all clinical governance and audit developments including post-registration education, training, and continuing professional development.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* RNMH, RNLD, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist with current registration, or pending registration if newly qualified.
* Post qualification courses in childcare practice or therapeutic work with children and families.
Experience
* Experience of working in a Mental Health setting that includes assessment, planning, and intervention of mental health provision.
* Experience of using evidence-based practice.
* Experience of working in partnership with patients/carers/other agencies or voluntary groups.
* Experience of working in CAMHS or similar child-focused services that includes assessment, planning, and intervention of mental health provision.
* Experience of working with individuals in crisis.
Additional Requirements
* Excellent time management skills, organisational skills, ability to work under pressure and to manage own and other workloads efficiently.
* Able to travel independently and in a timely manner.
* Ability to work both as a member of a team and autonomously and to manage own and other colleagues' anxieties.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of Safeguarding, Mental Health Act, and Risk Assessment.
* Understanding of Information Governance principles.
* Understanding of risk assessment and risk management of crisis presentations.
* Sound understanding of child and adolescent development.
* Knowledge of current local and national strategies concerning CAMHS, Children's Services, and mental health.
