We are seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Process Optimization Specialist to join our team in Bolton, UK. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation technologies and drive efficiency and innovation in production.
About the Role:
As a key member of our engineering team, you will design, implement, and continuously improve automated processes within a dynamic production environment. You will work closely with equipment suppliers and internal teams to ensure that automated systems are robust, efficient, and scalable.
This role combines elements of process engineering, project management, and technical troubleshooting to support our ambitious goals in production efficiency and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Automation Design: Develop and implement automation solutions, optimizing production processes and increasing efficiency.
* Process Optimization: Analyze production workflows to integrate automation technologies, such as robotic welding, pick-and-place, and vision systems.
* Collaboration with Suppliers: Partner with equipment suppliers to ensure designs prioritize safety, quality, and operational excellence.
* Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve issues in automated production systems, including PLCs (experience with Keyence PLCs and vision systems preferred but not essential).
* Cross-Functional Support: Work with Production Engineering and Maintenance to install automated systems and support continuous process improvements.
* Documentation & Standards: Develop and manage engineering documents, ensuring alignment with IATF standards.
* Process Improvement: Lead initiatives in Just-In-Time activities, design changes, and the adoption of new technologies to enhance productivity.
* Team Collaboration: Provide guidance to production engineers working together to make improvements and troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in PLC programming and fault-finding (experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Keyence PLCs is beneficial).
* Automation & Robotics Expertise: Strong knowledge of automation systems, robotics, pneumatic systems, and production mechanical systems.
* Problem Solving: Proficient in structured problem-solving methodologies like RCCA, DMAIC, and PDCA.
* Production Engineering Documentation: Experience with FMEA, process flow diagrams, and maintaining compliance with IATF standards.
* Project & Investment Management: Familiar with budgeting, capital investments, and ROI-focused planning for production equipment.
* Degree in Engineering: Electrical, Mechanical, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
* Preferred Experience: Background in electronics or automotive manufacturing, and familiarity with production efficiency practices (OEE, maintenance planning).
We offer a competitive salary of £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a range of benefits, including comprehensive training and development opportunities.
